The Andy Woodson Band is a contemporary jazz group comprised of some of the best musicians in the central Ohio area. This multi-faceted band performs in a variety of jazz styles, drawing inspiration from artists such as Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, John Coltrane, Jaco Pastorius, Bill Evans, Michael Brecker, John Scofield, and Kenny Garrett, as well as from many of the legendary artists from earlier jazz styles like BeBop and Big Band jazz. Their fresh, energetic sound comes from a combinations of talent, experience, dedication, and a passion for jazz music of all styles. Along with playing some of the music of these popular jazz artists, The Andy Woodson Bands main focus is on performing the original compositions written by the members of the group. This broadens the range of the material played by the band, which creates an exciting, unique sound that combines the traditional styles of the jazz idiom with the modern sounds of todays music.
